The need for surveillance devices seem to manifest in every point of modern history. As some assume that such gadgets only exist in fiction, it cannot be denied that their notion is completely wrong. Even during the late 1980s, private eyes benefited from concealed means of taking photographs. As the years went on, the demand for espionage gadgets never waned. Through decades of creative concepts and technological improvements, the most functional and stylish surveillance device emerged: high-definition recorder glasses. Indeed, learning more about the device’s history as well as becoming aware of its various modern purposes is an interesting endeavor.

Before delving deeper into the possibilities that such a technological marvel brings, it would be appropriate to discuss its roots. After all, getting more information about a particular device is always useful in helping one decide whether it would really be of practical use. Concealed surveillance gadgets first emerged in the 1980s. Indeed, just a few decades after the first photograph was made, people saw the need to take pictures in an inconspicuous manner. While it can never be accurately determined, many would agree that that the first espionage gadget that made use of photography was conveniently concealed in a pocket watch.

The aforesaid device had a considerable flaw however, as it was not capable of producing full-color photos. Soon enough, technological advancements brought forth the possibility to produce colored photographs, and as one may expect, brilliant minds immediately realized that a camera used for hidden surveillance needs to benefit from such a breakthrough. In 1940, the first color-capable espionage photography device was invented. It is even more amusing to realize, that the aforesaid gadget is also the smallest film-based photography gadget ever sold. With its success, as countless investigators bought the product, an entirely new industry soon emerged.

The sheer assortment of devices that were developed to satiate market demands was astonishing. In the late 1940s alone, customizable yet miniscule gadgets were developed, allowing for precise control when taking pictures without being noticed. Other devices featured merged functionalities, such as those that combined photography features into necessities such as wristwatches. Private eyes who require an even more concealed manner of taking pictures also took advantage of button-based photography. Simply put, the lens of the device was hidden in the button of a coat. As with all film-based approaches to shooting photos secretly, such devices suffered from limited capacity.

Eventually, in the late 1990s, computerized technology superseded film-based approaches to photography, and soon after, the manufacturers of surveillance devices adopted the new process. Instead of using bulky rolls of films, such spy equipment became dependent on memory stored in tiny chips. Of course, new possibilities became apparent, as size was no longer a limiting factor in producing espionage devices that allow for quick snapshots to be made. Modern data storage technologies even allow clips to be recorded through inconspicuous lens. Soon enough, the inevitable came: shades were combined with photography and telecast equipment. What was once perceived to be fictional devices in movies became reality.

In today’s standards though, the first few generations of espionage shades were still limited at best. With the unimpressive ability store low-resolution images and clips, it is definitely not surprising to find out that such shades were considered as novelty items. Such devices even failed to work at optimal lighting conditions, eliminating all potential for any surveillance applications. Furthermore, while both the lens and the memory were perfectly hidden in the shades, all people would still notice its large battery compartment and bulky controls. Real private eyes had to wait for technological progress, in order to be satisfied.

Eventually, modern upgrades of the aforementioned device came into existence. Taking advantage of cutting-edge photography and motion picture technology, the latest surveillance sunglasses features high-definition capabilities. Instead of merely capturing images in which people can barely be recognized, the current generation of espionage shades is more than able to take images of up to 720 pixels. Batteries and controls are no longer an issue, as such are hardly visible in modern surveillance technologies, thus making shades made for purposes of observation look exactly the same as common variants. Having a high-capacity memory is also a common feature among modern-day devices made for undercover work.

After having gained familiarity with the history of shades created for espionage purposes, one would be able to appreciate its practical applications. People nowadays are becoming more and more self-reliant in most pursuits. Even though detective agencies still provide essential services to countless individuals, the presence of user-friendly hidden surveillance equipment entice many to solve their safety concerns firsthand. Using cutting-edge espionage shades for example, people could uncover much needed information while going through their daily routines. After all, one does not need to wear the device for it to remain functional, as it can record clips for hours.

While many would already be satisfied with the built-in memory of spywear, which in most cases should suffice for several hour worth of clips and hundreds of high-resolution images, others would expectedly require a high-capacity option. Once again, the espionage device industry does not disappoint consumers, as certain surveillance shades can be hooked up with portable DVRs. Indeed, having such a way to record business meetings and deals at length would be most reassuring to many entrepreneurs, especially those who need to collaborate with unfamiliar partners from time to time. An added sense of certainty in any pursuit is beneficial.

Hidden surveillance gadgets really have gone a long way. From being a necessity solely among investigators, to becoming a handy device for those with the need to ensure the trustworthiness of people, it seems that high-definition espionage shades will only continue to improve as the years go by. Interestingly, such gadgets have become quite affordable as well. While some may argue that they would never face pressing matters that call for such devices, it is much more appropriate to believe that unpredictability is a part of life. Being double-crossed is not an impossibility.  Trust is gained through the lack of incriminating evidence, thus having a convenient means to gain facts is vital.
